The Jewish Federation of Cleveland’s 2025 Campaign for Jewish Needs will launch on Sept. 8 with the third annual Super Sunday Kickoff at the Federation’s Jack, Joseph and Morton Mandel Building in Beachwood.

Gabrielle and Yissachar Jerusalem, who co-chaired the event last year, return this year with Ryan Levine and Arica Jacobson. Gabrielle Jerusalem told the Cleveland Jewish News how the Oct. 7, 2023, attacks on Israel during the 2024 campaign shed light on its importance and allowed the community to respond.

“We were able to respond immediately because of those campaign dollars at work on Oct. 6 and from all the days and years of annual campaigns before then,” she said. “That was really important to see and to highlight. The dollars raised through the Campaign for Jewish Needs are critical for ensuring the programs and services at home and overseas.”

After a record 2024 campaign, Levine said the kickoff will build on that momentum to “bring a lot of energy early.”

“We always stress the importance of raising money early in the campaign and that theme will continue thus year,” he said.

The fundraising will begin at 10 a.m. as volunteers reach out to potential donors through phone calls, texts, emails and social media, and continue throughout the day. The family-fun activities will begin at 1 p.m. and everything will wrap up by 4 p.m.

“Folks can come and stay for a little bit, for a lot of bit, for the whole day,” Jerusalem said. “Whatever works for people’s schedules.”

For those who “aren’t comfortable cold-calling people,” Levine added there will be other ways to give their time for the fundraising efforts such as writing ‘thank you’ notes to donors. All attendees and volunteers can register at bit.ly/4cvPrgr, but walk-ins are also welcome.

There will also be several match opportunities throughout the campaign to increase one’s donation, including the KeyBank Match which will only be applicable during Super Sunday to match all new or increased pledges during the event.

Through the Mandel Match available through Nov. 1, the Jack, Joseph and Morton Mandel Foundation will match all new gifts dollar for dollar, as well as every additional dollar when gifts are increased by 10% or more.

The Brunswick Challenge will celebrate the growing Women IN Philanthropy community as the Brunswick Companies will donate an additional $1,000 in honor of every woman who becomes a new Lion of Judah and every Lion who advances to the next level.
