Cleveland Unites for Education Equity

An evening of inspiration! Community leaders, elected officials, and special guests from across our Cleveland community joined together to discuss an issue important to all of us: education equity and civil rights. Together, we are all partners in ensuring a strong future for Cleveland children.
The 69th Annual Meeting of the Jewish Federation of Cleveland's Community Relations Committee (CRC) featured Wade Henderson, a visionary leader of the human and civil rights movement, as the Sidney Z. Vincent Memorial Lecturer. "We need to radically rethink our commitment to all children's success," he said. "True education opens people up to their true grace and capability. Every child we know deserves that." Watch Henderson's full inspirational speech here.
Eric Gordon, CEO of the Cleveland Metropolitan School District (CMSD), also joined us, sharing his insight and wisdom. "In Cleveland, we've been able to stay focused on education, not because it's the right thing to do, but because the success of our city depends on it." As CRC Chair Cheryl Davis said, "We come together with our shared values, especially our commitment to striving for a quality education for our youth, so that our future as a community may be strong."
