The blurring of individual and locale – and their symbiosis – are central to “Israel: Land and Identity,” a provocative exhibition of 46 works in various media on view at the Roe Green Gallery in the Jewish Federation of Cleveland’s Jack, Joseph and Morton Mandel Building in Beachwood.

An important new exhibit has opened at the Jewish Federation of Cleveland’s Roe Green Gallery. On November 19, Israeli curator Emma Gashinsky and collection owner Ofer Levin joined nearly 75 Clevelanders in an intimate setting to share the story behind “Israel: Land & Identity,” a historical panorama of 46 works by Israeli artists created between the early 1900s to today.

CLEVELAND, Ohio – "Violins of Hope" is about to get even more interesting. In addition to the ongoing exhibition and concerts that have taken place so far, the project is about to include an appearance by the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, with its longtime director, Zubin Mehta.

Imagine what Robert Zelwin felt when he saw his relatives in a black-and-white photograph from April 1948 showing a group of former members of the Bielski Brigade in a displaced persons camp in Germany.

All are invited to meet curator Emma Gashinsky at an Open House on Sunday, November 22 from 2:00 – 5:00 p.m. in the Roe Green Gallery at the Jewish Federation of Cleveland’s Jack, Joseph and Morton Mandel Building (25701 Science Park Drive in Cleveland). Curator Talks will be at 2:30 p.m. and 4:00 p.m.
