Cemetery Cleanup Chair Performs True Act of Chesed(Loving Kindness)

We applaud Dan Brown for honoring our ancestors through his commitment to cemetery preservation in Jewish Cleveland! For the last several years, Dan has volunteered to serve as Chair of the Federation’s annual Cemetery Cleanup. Dan recently discovered his own relatives are buried at Lansing Cemetery, which makes his involvement with cemetery preservation that much more meaningful. Each year, Dan organizes hundreds of volunteers, including many families, who come to the Cleanup armed with rakes, shovels and wheelbarrows to beautify our Jewish cemeteries.

“We come together to honor those who came before us,” Dan said. “In Judaism, giving to those who cannot express gratitude is a true mitzvah (good deed).”
