Young Families: Meet the Levy Family
Beth and Brett Levy of Shaker Heights love what the Jewish Cleveland community has to offer. They love spending time with their two daughters cheering on the Indians and at the many farmers markets around the city. See what the Levy’s love about being a Young Family in Jewish Cleveland:
Q - What do you and your family enjoy about being Jewish in Cleveland?
Our family enjoys how easy it is to connect to Jewish life in Cleveland; we have so many welcoming places here to get involved in Judaism. It is a very comforting feeling to be Jewish in Cleveland because of the warm, welcoming, and tight community feeling you get when you are walking into the JCC, seeing another family at Corky and Lenny’s or are attending a Jewish event.
Q - How do you incorporate PJ Library and Judaism in your home?
We read PJ Library books almost daily in our household! It’s very important for my girls to see that Judaism is a central part of our family identity. We also like to make challah on Shabbat and have friends over for dinner. We use our PJ Library tzedakah (charity) box to teach our kids about doing mitzvahs (good deeds) - right now, we are saving up to buy animal toys for dogs in shelters.
Q – What are your favorite things to do as a family in the city?
We love to take advantage of all the things Cleveland has to offer. We go to festivals, including the Asian Town Festival, the Hessler Street Fair, and the Larchmere PorchFest. As a family, we enjoy going to Indians games, children's plays at Playhouse Square, farmers markets, West Side Market, the Botanical Gardens, and Cleveland Orchestra concerts. We want our children to take part in the rich cultural opportunities that Cleveland offers!
