FEDERATION GOVERNANCE STRUCTURE
Roles & Responsibilities
BOARD OF TRUSTEES
- Acts as a policy-making body to implement Federation’s mission, vision, and strategic plan; monitors the progress of the Federation’s programs and goals
- Provides responsible fiduciary oversight on a regular basis and ensures financial solvency through resource development; provides sound risk management of the agency
- Works to carry out the mission of the Federation through active and generous support of the Campaign for Jewish Needs and other financial resource development activities
- Carries out the provisions of the Bylaws and Code of Regulations
- Elects the officers and the Executive Committee; selects the chief executive officer
OFFICERS
- Formulates and reviews policy issues
- Serves as advisors to the board chair and president
- Serves as official representatives of the Federation
- Serves as personnel committee (through Administrative Committee)
- Formulates and recommends Federation budget requests (through Administrative Committee)
EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE
- When needed, acts in place of the board between board meetings
- Provides sounding board on issues that cut across different areas of the Federation or community
- Serves as advisors to board chair, president, and officers
INDIVIDUAL BOARD MEMBERS
- Act with honesty, integrity and diligence, in the best interests of the Federation; follow all board policies related to confidentiality and potential conflicts of interest
- Serve as ambassadors and representatives of the Federation to the broader Jewish community and general community; set an example in the community through active support of the goals of the organization
- Regularly attend board meetings and review advance materials
- Actively raise questions and/or suggestions about board agenda items and the work of the Federation
- Participate in and support Federation programs, meetings and events
- Provide generous financial support through annual campaign and other efforts, commensurate with personal giving ability
