Each year, the Jewish Federation of Cleveland’s Women’s Philanthropy hosts a spring luncheon that focuses on a relevant and timely women’s issue. This year, Women’s Philanthropy leadership wanted to explore the #MeToo movement and invited renowned feminist author, Naomi Wolf, to speak on this topic.

From generation to generation, l’dor v’dor. Donna Yanowitz lives that motto. Along with her late husband, Bennett, she taught her children and grandchildren the value of saving and giving. For Donna, being philanthropic is made easier through her Donor Advised Fund (DAF) and the Yanowitz Foundation of the Jewish Federation of Cleveland.

The Israel at 70 celebration continued yesterday as nearly 2,000 people from across our diverse community came together at IsraelFest!, a first-of-its-kind festival here in Jewish Cleveland!

Six Jewish Cleveland young leaders recently returned from a once-in-a-lifetime journey, visiting Jewish communities in Morocco and Spain with the National Young Leadership Cabinet (NYLC) Study Mission. The trip, which highlighted the special relationship both countries have with the Jewish people, also helped the group understand the importance of supporting vibrant Jewish communities throughout the globe.

This year Israel turns 70.

While receiving the Charles Eisenman Award from the Jewish Federation of Cleveland, S. Lee Kohrman addressed Jewish continuity, injustice and the importance of ensuring the U.S. and Israel become more just places in the future.

Last night, more than 400 community members came together at Fuchs Mizrachi School to celebrate 114 years of community and 70 years of Israel's independence at the Jewish Federation of Cleveland's Annual Meeting.

Each year, our community comes together to celebrate Yom Ha’atzmaut, Israel’s birthday. This year, the Jewish Federation of Cleveland marks the 70th year of Israel’s independence through a series of community-wide arts, cultural, and educational events – known collectively as the “Israel at 70” series. One of those events is IsraelFest! on May 6 at the Mandel JCC, which will be a carnival-like atmosphere with Israeli games, Israeli food, a shuk (Israeli market), a bounce house, and more fun for all ages.

At our Yom Hazikaron (Israel's Memorial Day) commemoration, First Lieutenant Tair Hadar shared the story of her friend and neighbor, Oren Noa, who tragically lost his life defending the state of Israel. Read Oren's story now:
